Kima is a collaborative pet care coordination app for households that share pet responsibilities. It replaces scattered group texts and fridge whiteboards with a shared, real-time timeline where every caregiver can log activities, complete tasks, track health, and stay on the same page — from anywhere.
Yes. Kima has a free core coordination plan for shared timelines, tasks, reminders, and everyday pet care tracking. Premium unlocks higher limits and advanced features such as AI insights, vet reports, full history, and an ad-free experience.
Kima supports dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and a general "other" category for any pet type. Each pet type gets activity types tailored to their specific needs — so you'll see relevant care actions for your specific pet.
Getting started takes just a few minutes. Create an account, select your goals, finish your profile, set up or join a household, invite caregivers, and add your pets. Once you're set up, you can start logging activities right away.
Absolutely. While Kima shines with multiple caregivers, it's also a powerful tool for solo pet owners. You get a complete care journal, medication tracking with reminders, weight and mood trends, a Care Score, achievements, and vet-ready reports — all valuable even if you're the only one logging.
Kima is a mobile app available on both iOS and Android.
Kima supports everyday care tracking across intake, exercise, bathroom, health and care, veterinary, and custom activity types. You can log meals, water, treats, walks, playtime, bathroom events, grooming, medications, vet visits, and more. Activities can include details like amount, units, rating (1-5), notes, food brand, and location.
The timeline is your home screen — a date-grouped, scrollable feed showing everything that's happened with your household's pets. It displays completed activities, task check-offs, and household messages, all in real time. Every entry shows who did what and when. You can filter by pet, activity type, or household member to focus on what matters.
Recurring tasks support flexible scheduling: daily, every N days, specific days of the week, or a specific day of the month. You can assign them to household members, link them to specific pets and activity types, and pause/resume as needed. When someone completes a recurring task, it automatically creates an activity record and updates streaks and achievements.
Yes! Kima remembers your recent unique activities per pet and activity type, so you can re-log common actions with just one tap. Fed the same breakfast every morning? One tap. Same walk route? One tap. It saves time on repetitive care.
Yes. Each household can create custom activity types when the built-in care options do not fit your pet's routine. This lets you track care actions specific to your pet's needs without forcing them into the wrong category.
A household is Kima's central organizational unit — think of it as your household. It's the group of people who share responsibility for your pets. Everyone in a household sees the same timeline, tasks, and pet profiles. You can have multiple caregivers in one household: partners, roommates, family members, or pet sitters.
Kima has three household roles: Owner (full control, can manage the household and all settings), Admin (can manage members, pets, and settings), and Member (can log activities, complete tasks, and participate in the timeline). This lets you give your pet sitter member access without them being able to change your household settings.
You can invite new members by email. Kima creates a pending invite for that email address, so existing users can accept it in the app and new users can sign up with the invited email to see the invite during onboarding. You choose the role they'll have when they join, and temporary caregivers can have start and end dates for their access. Invites can be accepted, declined, or they expire automatically.
Yes. Kima supports household timeline messages that are visible to everyone in the household and appear in the main feed alongside activities and tasks. It also supports direct message conversations between household members. You can leave comments on timeline entries, pin important messages, and attach photos or videos. Real-time delivery is powered by WebSockets, and read receipts show when household members have seen a message.
Yes. You can invite a pet sitter as a member of your household and set temporary start and end dates for the trip or care window. They'll have access to log activities, complete tasks, and communicate on the timeline while their membership is active. Their activity history stays in your timeline for your records.
Kima shows both your personal streaks and household streaks. Your streaks reflect your own consistency, while household streaks grow when anyone in the household logs the right care or completes the right recurring task. This makes it easy to celebrate individual effort and shared routines without pretending one person did everything.
Yes! If a streak is at risk, you can restore it once per week — giving you a second chance without losing your progress. Use it wisely!
Kima has over 50 achievements across three categories: streak milestones (hitting 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, and 100-day streaks), count milestones (logging 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500 activities in a category), and sharing milestones (sharing your achievements or the app with others). When you unlock an achievement, you'll see a full-screen celebration animation.
The leaderboard ranks all household members by engagement using a weighted scoring system: activities earn 1 point, task completions earn 2 points, achievements earn 10 points, shares earn 3 points, and active streaks earn 5 points. It's a fun way to see who's contributing most — and motivate everyone to pitch in.
You can activate a 2x points multiplier on your next activity. The multiplier lasts for 24 hours from activation. It's a fun boost for climbing the leaderboard!
The Care Score is a daily composite score from 0-100 that captures the quality of your pet's care — factoring in how consistently you log activities, whether tasks get done on time, your pet's mood trend, and variety across care types. You also get a letter grade (A through F) and trend detection so you can see at a glance whether care is improving, steady, or slipping.
Each pet gets daily mood and energy check-ins using a simple 1-5 scale designed for quick input. You can optionally add notes. Kima calculates averages, distributions, and trends — telling you if your pet's mood is improving, stable, or declining. You can view a 30-day mood history and the data feeds directly into the Care Score and activity-mood correlation analysis.
Kima helps you keep each pet's medication details in one place: name, dosage, frequency, and instructions. Medication tasks and reminders help the household see what is due, and completed doses are logged on the shared timeline with who gave them and when.
Yes! You can set a target weight on your pet's profile. Kima tracks weight over time using "Weight Check" activities that automatically update your pet's current weight. You'll see stats including current, min, max, average, and overall change — plus a 90-day weight history with trend analysis. You'll know if your pet is on target for their weight goal.
Yes. Kima can generate comprehensive per-pet vet reports covering activities by category, medication history, elimination patterns, mood trends, and more. You can configure the time period (default 30 days) and export it as a one-tap PDF. Walk into your next vet visit with a complete care record instead of guessing from memory.
Kima's correlation engine analyzes 90 days of your care data to find statistically significant patterns between activities and your pet's mood. It identifies things like which activities improve mood, the best time of day for walks, frequency impacts, and more. You also get anonymous benchmarking that compares your pet's care against similar pets (same type), with privacy thresholds requiring at least 5 pets before showing comparisons.
Only members of your household can see your pet's data. Kima's household model ensures that activities, tasks, health data, and messages are visible only to the people you've explicitly invited. When a member is removed from a household, they lose access to all data.
Kima's benchmarking feature compares aggregate, anonymized care patterns against pets of the same type. No individual pet or household data is ever shared. The feature requires a minimum of 5 pets in the comparison group before any benchmarks are shown, ensuring individual data can't be identified.
Your account is secured with industry-standard password hashing (bcrypt) and JWT-based authentication. All communication with Kima's servers is encrypted. Household invites use secure, time-limited tokens that expire after 7 days.
Kima uses soft deletion, which means your data is deactivated rather than permanently destroyed. If you remove a pet, their historical data is preserved in the timeline but the pet is marked as inactive. If you leave a household, you lose access to that household's data, but the data itself remains for the remaining members. Households can also be soft-deleted by owners, preserving data integrity.
No. Kima does not track your GPS location. The "locations" feature allows you to save named places (like "home," "dog park," or "vet office") to associate with activities — but these are manually created by you, not tracked automatically.
